- 5 / 5By Petty foggerWe had heard that this restaurant was open and took a little detour to check it out, It is not some snooty supper club although you couldn't tell it by the food.
We were at the tail end of the grill's dinner hour and close to their closing, but we were welcomed, seated with menus and suggestions from the waitress. As we had been told, the food was good; maybe even very good. The portions were healthy, served at an appropriate temperature and really hit the spot.
We offered a variety of pies, cake and cookies, but there was no room. The desserts looked great, and we ended up taking some home.
This small town cafe/grill is worth a few extra miles to visit if you are anywhere close to New Albin, Iowa. If you ask, they may even tell you the story behind the place's name and even show you where the real Iron Post is located.
